Dragon carrot
$4.50
Daucus carota, Apiaceae
The Dragon carrot is a contemporary cultivar selected by Dr. John Navazio from ancestral varieties: its bright purple skin contrasts nicely with the orange interior, which looks great when sliced into long ribbons with a mandolin. The roots are smooth, 12 to 15 cm long and grow vigorously. You'll love its singular, slightly spicy flavor, as if it had played in ginger. Not a good variety for heavy soils! 80 days to maturity.
